Area Information - Things to Do

On Foot

Rock Pond abounds in nature and wildlife. Adjacent to Rock Pond is the Deer Leap Natural Area that was once home to the Pawtucket Indians. Here you will find hiking trails and comfortable walking trails for all ages, rock climbing ledges, and 60-foot cliffs that overlook Moekel Pond where you can sit and enjoy the vista and bird watch. This natural area serves as nesting ground for Great Blue Heron. Other native birds are also plentiful: songbirds, owls, woodpeckers, and hawks. You may also spot deer, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, porcupines, or even moose.

Food

Seafood lovers, check out the Lobster Tail Restaurant & Market. Sit and eat or take out live lobster and other fresh seafood to cook at the cottage.

Take in dinner or Sunday brunch buffet at the award-winning restaurant, The Common Man; you will want to call ahead.

The Windham Restaurant occupies one of Windham's most significant historical sites. First operated as a farm in 1729, the present house was built in 1812 and remodeled in the late 1800s. Their menu includes a large variety of entrees including pasta, poultry, seafood, beef, pork, and lamb, and veal. And everything on their menu is available for take-out!

For seasonal fruits and vegetables including sweet NH grown corn, we recommend the neighborhood farmstand - Johnson's Highland View Farm. You can also visit the barnyard animals while enjoying Richardson’s Ice Cream – the best ice cream in New Hampshire - and rated #1 for their frozen yogurt by the Phantom Gourmet in 2004!

Neighboring Windham is Salem, NH, home of Canobie Lake Amusement Park that is great fun for everyone.

" Had a great time!

Thank you!
  On the run just
  down the road;
  Macy's not far, but
  who cares. We
  have pine trees
  waving and oak
  leaves drifting
  onto ripples of
  pond...
  chipmunks
  chittering;
  junkos dipping;
 and 48 blackbirds
  swooping to a
  picnic.
  October in New
  Hampshire! "

  " Perfect place
  to get away. What
  more could we
  ask for... to come
  back, for one
  thing! Thanks for
  sharing it with us."
